For almost nine years ZOË has been home to our family of six, and she carried us 20,000 nautical miles from Greece to French Polynesia, the finest cruising ground we have ever found. Our four children are growing fast and we have found a bigger boat, so it is time to pass her on.
She was built professionally in 1989 by the renowned Henze boatyard in Germany, in wood and epoxy: 3 cm cedar strip-planked hulls and a plywood deck. Light, strong, genuinely fast, and easy to sail even single-handed.
Highlights: • 42 x 21 ft, shallow 3.3 ft draft • Rebuilt to true bluewater standard in 2024-26. • Mainsail and Genoa in heavy Hydranet, very good condition • Gennaker and 2 Spinnakers • Fully self-sufficient: 2000 W solar, 800 Ah LiFePO4, 3000 W Victron inverter, 70 L/h watermaker • 2 x 54 hp diesels on saildrives with self-pitching Autoprops • 3 double cabins + a single, electric head, washing machine, keel-cooled freezer, induction galley • Garmin instruments, radar, autopilot, AIS, VHF
ZOË is stronger, faster and far better built than a production catamaran of the same size, and far longer-lived: a 2020 production boat will not still be crossing oceans in 37 years. We keep her in the very best shape and everything aboard works.
We are currently applying fresh antifouling and finishing the interior work. We are going to add photos of the inside once we are done. Serious enquiries very welcome.
