The Bavaria Ocean 47 is a purpose designed centre cockpit sloop rigged yacht intended for ocean sailing. It has a raised coachroof over the saloon which provides plenty of natural light inside. The hull is robust and thickly laid up with kevlar laminate ( not to be confused with the 47 of the same period). The rig by Selden is moderate for safe comfortable sailing and ease of sail handling with in mast furling main and roller furling genoa. There is a cruising shute and snuffer and will sail at a cruising speed about 7 knots but in the right conditions can sail at 10 knots and still be manageable. There is a lead keel with the same ballast ratio as the standard iron keel but with a reduced draft that makes it possible to navigate some inland waterways. Shaft drive to a fixed 3 blade propeller allows a motoring speed of 7 knots with a range of about 500 miles. The rudder is a spade design. Internally there are 3 sleeping cabins with a very large centre line double berth owners suite aft, a V berth in the bow and side bunk cabin forward of the mast. The saloon is large with a table that seats 6 to 8 persons. There is a well equipped galley. The yacht was built to a high specification with many additions and upgrades subsequently. It is in commission and can be sailed to the buyers location if within the Mediterranean or possibly western European coastline. Included in the sale is an extensive inventory of spare equipment. Currently in Port Yasmine Hammamet Tunisia. Registered under British (UK) flag. Third owner for 14 years. Reluctant sale due to age and health issues.
