Bostrom 37 – Classic Swedish Center-Cockpit Cruiser
Proven Blue Water Pedigree | Lloyd’s Certified | Significantly Upgraded
Presenting a well-maintained example of the classic Bostrom 37, hull number 239/1986 (number 39 in the series). Built at the renowned Porali Marin shipyard in Sweden—the same yard used by Hallberg-Rassy and Najad—this center-cockpit sloop is a safe, solid, and comfortable long-distance cruiser.
In Norway, the Bostrom 37 is legendary, famously known as the vessel of choice for author Ragnar Kvam during his global voyages.
Key Features & Performance
Robust Construction: Built with a Divinycell core in the deck for stiffness and insulation, holding a prestigious Lloyd’s Certification.
Sailing Characteristics: Designed by Bruno Bostrom, she is "powered by the genoa," which acts as the boat's main engine. The tall, narrow mainsail is exceptionally easy to reef. She comfortably clocks 6–7 knots in moderate winds (6–7 m/s) using only the genoa.
Spacious Cockpit: The large, deep center cockpit provides excellent protection and a sense of security similar to high-end yachts like Swan or Najad.
Interior & Accommodation
Layout: Ample living space featuring a main salon, a V-berth (forepeak), and a versatile aft section.
Custom Aft Cabin: The current owners have converted the aft salon into a private sleeping cabin, though it can easily be restored to its original salon layout if desired.
Workshop: Features a dedicated onboard workshop/storage room on the starboard side—perfect for long-term cruising.
Finish: Beautifully appointed in solid mahogany. This specific boat was fitted out in Søgne, featuring a unique lower backrest design in the salon to accommodate an extra storage shelf.
Recent Maintenance & History
Significant Upgrades: Over NOK 250,000 has been invested in upgrades and maintenance over the last three years.
Documentation: Extensive history and documentation are available.
This is a rare opportunity to own a seaworthy classic that combines Swedish craftsmanship with a proven track record for offshore sailing.
