Bemerkung

Aphrodite (Najad) 33 | Well Equipped | Lloyd’s Certified

We are a group of three friends (two guys and one girl) who bought an Aphrodite in Norway at the beginning of August last year. The goal was to embark on a life adventure, which we have absolutely succeeded in doing. We set course southward toward the Mediterranean. Along the way, we’ve gotten to know the boat very well, and we have truly been surprised by the qualities it offers—something we experienced firsthand during serious storms over the notorious Bay of Biscay. With the Aphrodite 33, you get a classic, solid, and safe sailboat that combines timeless elegance with modern comfort and safety. This is a boat for those who appreciate quality, craftsmanship, and excellent sailing characteristics.

After seven months, the adventure is coming to an end, and we have decided to sell the boat in the Mediterranean. Viewings will be possible starting in early March, but takeover will not be possible until April 1. We expect the boat to be located in Greece or southern Italy at that time, but we don’t yet know the exact location.

Aphrodite 33 – Quality Boat from Orust with Extensive Upgrades

This Aphrodite 33 is a solid quality boat built by Rex Marin on Orust, to the same high standards as Najad and Hallberg-Rassy. Aphrodite was Najad’s sister shipyard on Orust, and the two were merged after a few years.

The boat is Lloyd’s registered and designed by the renowned designer Carl Beyer. With its timeless lines, the boat represents the best of Swedish boatbuilding tradition—a hand-built classic requiring 2,000–3,000 more labor hours than modern mass-produced boats.

This particular example has been extensively upgraded with equipment.

Features and Construction

The Aphrodite 33 sails well and safely with excellent performance that often surprises owners of modern boats. The tall continuous rig of 14.5 meters stands firmly on the keel, and the boat has a 2,300 kg steel keel that is galvanized and epoxy treated.

The hull is built in fiberglass-reinforced polyester without condensation issues, and the boat has the original 12 mm teak deck.

The layout is timeless and practical with:
• Spacious aft cabin with double berth and private exit
• Central saloon with large table and U-shaped sofa
• Forward cabin with double berth

The toilet is located on the starboard side of the companionway, with a separate drying room behind it on the starboard side. Throughout the boat there is exquisite interior work in mahogany and teak.

The boat is designed with a large practical storage space under the seats on the starboard side of the cockpit, as well as plenty of storage under the sofa and double berths in the aft cabin and forward cabin. The sofas can also be converted into berths and sea berths.

Recent Maintenance

The boat shows evidence of continuous maintenance during our ownership.

The last time the boat was on land was September 20, 2025, when the hull was cleaned. Before that, the boat was hauled out in April 2025 at Skjæløy Marina, where the hull was thoroughly acid-washed, polished, and antifouled.

The engine has received frequent service every 100 engine hours during our ownership, as the boat has been used extensively for travel.

The teak deck around the entire boat has recently been restored. Significant work has been done replacing caulking seams, sanding the deck, and treating it with Boracol. The result is both a visual improvement and a teak deck that should last for many years.

All major work has been carried out by qualified professionals.
