Why We Chose This Yacht

Most of your time cruising is spent at anchor, so we wanted a catamaran that truly feels comfortable to live on full-time, and the Lagoon 400 S2 delivers exactly that. Compared to smaller catamarans like the Lagoon 380, it feels significantly bigger inside, almost like a floating apartment, while still sailing very well and feeling safe and stable in rougher conditions.
We specifically liked this catamaran because of the extended coachroof design, which gives the boat a more modern look and creates a fantastic outdoor living space. The large U-shaped cockpit is perfect for relaxing, sunset drinks, or hosting friends, while the entire boat offers an impressive amount of space and storage that constantly surprises visitors for a catamaran of this size. We also preferred the secure single-helm design, which offers far better protection from sun, rain, and rough conditions compared to exposed dual-helm layouts like the Nautitech.
Another big advantage is value and practicality. The Lagoon 400 offers living space comparable to much larger catamarans, but with lower marina fees, easier handling, and lower operating costs thanks to its 40-foot size. The engine rooms are also spacious and easy to access, making maintenance easy.
Originally, the Nautitech 40 Open was our first choice because of its modern design and sailing performance, but after owning this Lagoon 400 S2, we honestly would not trade it for any other catamaran in this size range. The next real upgrade would only be something like a Fountaine Pajot Elba 45 at a much much higher price point.

What Adventures Did We Have With It?

This boat carried us safely across the Atlantic Ocean in February 2025 from the Canary Islands via Cape Verde to Barbados, and then throughout the Caribbean. Since then, we explored the Lesser Antilles, spent hurricane season in Curaçao, and continued on to Aruba, Colombia, Panama, the Cayman Islands, Cuba, the Bahamas, the Dominican Republic, and Bonaire.
Along the way we fished, spearfished, kitesurfed, paddleboarded, explored mangroves by dinghy, hiked remote islands, freedived, and discovered the incredible underwater world of the Caribbean. We experienced different cultures, including time spent with the Guna people in San Blas, and even learned Spanish during our journey.
This Lagoon opened the door to all of these adventures while always providing the comfort, safety, and independence to truly enjoy the lifestyle. We never felt like we were missing anything, it has simply been the perfect platform for this kind of life.

Why Are We Selling?

We are a couple who fulfilled our dream of long-term cruising and living aboard full-time. After incredible adventures and experiences, we have decided that the next chapter for us is focusing on family plans and returning to our previous professional careers ashore.
This decision has nothing to do with the boat itself, this Lagoon has exceeded all our expectations and has been the perfect platform for this lifestyle. We simply feel that, for this stage of life, land-based living is the right path for us.

Lagoon 400 S2 Owner’s Version – The One Buyers Spend Years Looking For

Some boats look good in photos.
Some boats are equipped for weekend sailing.
And then there are the rare few that are genuinely prepared to untie the lines tomorrow and cross oceans in safety, comfort, and complete independence.

This Lagoon 400 S2 Owner’s Version is one of those boats.
Extensively upgraded, exceptionally maintained, and thoughtfully improved in every important area, this is not your typical Lagoon 400. It is a proven bluewater liveaboard platform built for people who want to spend their time cruising, not stuck in boatyards managing endless refits.
Unlike many boats on the market today, this vessel was never treated as a “good enough” setup. Over $100,000 has been invested in recent upgrades and preventative maintenance, creating a level of capability, comfort, and reliability rarely found in this class.
The result is a Lagoon 400 in excellent condition that feels far newer, more capable, and significantly better equipped than the vast majority of comparable boats currently for sale.

Why This Boat Is Different

Everything critical has already been upgraded, refined, tested, and optimized by an owner preparing the boat for serious long-term cruising.
Major Recent Upgrades Include
• Brand-new mainsail, genoa, and lazy bag (2025)
• Complete professional electrical refit with Victron integration
• Large lithium battery bank with very low usage
• Massive bifacial solar array delivering true off-grid capability
• Starlink internet system for remote work and global connectivity
• New Raymarine Axiom Pro electronics and Quantum Doppler radar
• Major saildrive overhaul and engine servicing
• Watermaker overhaul
• Full underwater hull treatment with epoxy protection
• Upgraded anchoring system
• Remote vessel monitoring and onboard security systems

Most buyers entering the catamaran market quickly discover the reality:
The cheaper boat almost always becomes the expensive boat.

Many Lagoon 400s available today are ex-charter vessels or lightly upgraded owner boats that still require:
• new sails
• lithium conversion
• solar upgrades
• electronics replacement
• engine and saildrive work
• watermaker installation
• anchoring upgrades
• liveaboard improvements
• endless troubleshooting
It is very common for owners to spend $100k–$200k+ and lose multiple cruising seasons transforming an average boat into a truly capable offshore cruiser.
With this Lagoon, that process has already been completed by the previous owners.
This is not a basic cruising setup assembled on a budget.
This is a carefully engineered offshore cruising platform built around comfort, redundancy, autonomy, and peace of mind.
Built for Comfortable Full-Time Living
For a couple or small family dreaming about life at anchor, island hopping, or crossing oceans at your own pace, this Lagoon delivers a lifestyle that most boats in this size range simply cannot offer.
Imagine:
• waking up with batteries still above 70%
• enjoying hot showers after a swim
• making espresso in a quiet anchorage
• running air conditioning when needed
• working remotely through Starlink
• storing real groceries in household-style refrigeration
• doing laundry onboard
• anchoring comfortably without marinas

Everything about this boat has been designed to make long-term cruising easier, more comfortable, and more enjoyable.
Features include:
• Spacious owner’s hull
• Air conditioning throughout
• Powerful renewable energy system (Double Tension System 110V/220V)
• Full electric galley with premium appliances
• Large fridge and freezer capacity
• 7kg/15lbs washing machine
• Smart TV and entertainment systems
• Excellent remote-work connectivity
• Extensive storage and cruising equipment
Go Cruising Now, Not Years From Now
The greatest value of this Lagoon is not just the equipment list.
It is the time, stress, and uncertainty it saves its next owner.
No waiting months for shipyards.
No chasing contractors.
No expensive surprise refits.
No sacrificing multiple cruising seasons upgrading a cheaper boat.

You can step aboard and leave.
Whether your dream is Caribbean cruising, offshore passages, remote work from anchorages, or full-time liveaboard life, this Lagoon is already prepared to do it immediately.
For buyers comparing boats in this range, this vessel represents a rare opportunity to acquire a fully upgraded, genuinely turnkey cruising catamaran at a fraction of what it would cost, in both money and time, to recreate this level of preparation yourself.

Serious inquiries only.

Ownership & History
This Lagoon 400 S2 has had a carefully documented history of private European ownership, previously owned by German and Swiss owners and never used for charter operations. Throughout its life, the vessel has been privately maintained and lightly used, contributing significantly to its exceptional overall condition.
The yacht spent many years based in Las Palmas, Canary Islands, where it saw only limited seasonal use. Unlike many permanently Caribbean-based vessels exposed to constant UV, heat, and year-round charter wear, this boat avoided the heavy tropical degradation commonly found in comparable catamarans.
The vessel was professionally shipped between Europe and the Caribbean before undertaking her Atlantic crossing back to the Caribbean under current ownership where she has continued cruising since February 2025. As a result, the boat retains a notably fresher appearance and structural condition than many vessels of similar age operating continuously in the Caribbean environment.

This history of light private usage, European care standards, and extensive recent upgrades makes this Lagoon 400 S2 a rare and highly desirable bluewater cruising platform.
