Owners Comments and Boat HistoryWe do not know her history. We purchased her in 2018 from a couple who had used her for weekend getaways. Her previous name was Primavera. She was located in Corpus Christi, TX. We started upgrading her in April 2019 and have continued to upgrade her along the way. We sailed her to Kemah, Texas where COVID delayed our plans. We put her on the hard in Florida and replaced the engine. We sailed her to USVI in 3/23 and then on to Grenada for the summer. We have sailed her around the US Virgins and the BVI’s since 2023. We have a mooring ball in Inner Vessup Bay at Red Hook, St Thomas where we stay when we are not island hopping. She has only been used for pleasure. We have sailed her in heavy weather and she handled it with ease.
What first attracted us to Alaya was the incredible sense of space and light the moment you step down below, it feels more like an apartment than a sailboat. Her interior is finished in mahogany that creates a warm, inviting atmosphere. You immediately notice the incredible headroom throughout, making the cabin feel open and airy rather than cramped. The center cockpit design is a game changer, offering a large, private aft stateroom with plenty of headroom with en suite head. The step down galley is large, convenient and fitted with proper fiddles for cooking securely at sea. It has ample counter space and storage. She is a very comfortable liveaboard, yet she absolutely shines when you set the sails. She sails fast in light air and handles heavy weather comfortably, making coastal cruising or passage making a joy.
