The Malö 40 H is a stable, reliable, and high-quality long-distance cruiser from the renowned Swedish shipyard Malö Yachts. Built according to Lloyd's Register guidelines, it stands for seaworthiness and long-lasting quality. This is underscored by the thick GRP hull, the noble teak deck, and the solid wood interior.

The designation "40" stands for the sail area of 40 m² upwind; the hull length is just under 10m (32 feet), which means a clear cost advantage in terms of harbour fees compared to longer yachts. These dimensions are optimally utilised with a practical layout and plenty of storage space. The "H" model (Häckerkabin) features a separate aft cabin with its own entrance, ideal for having guests on board.

The Malö 40 H is a course-stable long keel yacht, which exhibits a pleasantly calm and safe behaviour even in challenging seas. The hull, including the long keel, was laminated in a single casting, and the ballast was introduced from the inside. This replaces the vulnerable keel bolt connection – an essential safety advantage in the event of a grounding. Maximum safety is also granted by the deep centre cockpit, from which sheets and halyards can be operated, meaning that leaving the cockpit while sailing is rarely necessary.

We bought the boat in 2023, after it had been lovingly maintained and lightly used for the previous 40 years by only three owners in a private sailing club in Northern Germany. It was stored protected on land every winter, and all necessary maintenance measures were diligently performed.

Since the spring of 2024, we have used the boat full-time as a liveaboard and sailed it from Northern Germany across the Baltic Sea, through the European canals and rivers, to the Mediterranean. From there, the journey continued across France and Italy to Greece. The underwater hull was last serviced in October 2025 (new antifouling, new sacrificial anode, propeller polished) and the boat is ready for use. Due to new commitments, we are now offering our faithful companion for sale.

The Malö 40 H is currently stored in a dry dock in Lavrion, Greece, about 40 minutes by car from Athens Airport. Viewings on-site are welcome by arrangement.
