Boats are generally at high risk of theft. However, thanks to modern technology, good protection is easier than ever. An overview, now available as a PDF download

The expensive trailer, possibly with the boat on top, the life raft or SUP on deck, navigation electronics inside the ship or even the yacht itself: These things are usually not really well protected. However, various measures, which often don't even have to be expensive, can be used to protect your belongings. The measures range from better locks to alarm systems that notify the owner or the police of a break-in via smartphone. Fridtjof Gunkel è nato a Helgoland nel 1962, dove ha iniziato la sua carriera velica con gli Opti per poi passare rapidamente alle barche a chiglia. La Settimana del Mare del Nord, la Settimana di Cowes e la Settimana di Kiel sono state le prime tappe, seguite da molti anni di Admiral's Cup sui cupper “Container” e “Rubin”. I campionati mondiali e le regate internazionali in Starboat, con il mini-maxi “SiSiSi” e vari yacht tonner, nonché la partecipazione alla Whitbread Round the World Race, sono state ulteriori stazioni formative, affiancate da lunghi viaggi in crociera. Fridtjof Gunkel è entrato a far parte di YACHT come tirocinante nel 1985, dove è poi diventato responsabile del dipartimento Test & Technology e poi vice caporedattore circa 25 anni fa. È anche responsabile della sezione regate e sport. Fridtjof Gunkel naviga privatamente su un performance/cruiser ormeggiato sulla costa baltica, mentre le sue zone preferite sono l'arcipelago svedese orientale e la Bretagna.
