If you take your rig trim seriously, you need reliable measurements. Conventional shroud tension meters rely on plastic components at the contact points to the wire. The problem is that these parts wear out under load and gradually distort the measurement results. If you want to trim your rig accurately over several seasons, you need a measuring device that delivers consistently accurate readings.
The key feature of the Rig Gauge PRO for precise rig trim lies in the choice of materials. All relevant contact points are made of seawater-resistant components: The rollers are made of stainless steel, the pointer arm combines aluminium with stainless steel. According to the manufacturer, this combination of materials should provide stable measurement results for rig trim even with intensive use over many seasons. The aluminium body is ergonomically shaped and, according to the manufacturer, sits securely in the hand.
The scale is based on the Loos measuring devices also known as PowerOtto. They are the most common tension meters on the market and indicate the pull in pounds (lb). If you already have experience with shroud tension meters, you can simply continue to use the rig trim values. An additional feature is the integrated 150 millimetre ruler on the housing. This allows you to check the mast bend and other rig settings during rig trim without the need for an additional measuring tape.
The Rig Gauge PRO is available from Lindemann available for shroud diameters of 2.5 to 4 and 5 to 7 millimetres. The price is 255 euros in each case. The measuring device is supplied in a padded case that protects it from damage.
