Note
The Wauquiez Pilot Saloon 41 “U2” represents the perfect symbiosis of French savoir-faire, high-quality craftsmanship, and an intelligent use of space. Designed by Berret/Racoupeau, she is among the rarest and most sought-after deck saloon yachts in her class – with only around 38 units built between 2005 and 2007.
With her distinctive, elegantly curved superstructure and the pilot saloon concept, she offers a feature rarely found on yachts of comparable size: a true deck saloon, combined with an aft cockpit and a spacious owner’s cabin aft. Despite the raised superstructure, the hull remains efficient and seaworthy – a true quality yacht, solidly built in GRP sandwich construction with a balsa core.
The deck layout is designed for short-handed sailing: all lines are led back to the cockpit, and one halyard winch is electric – making handling easy, even with just two people. The cockpit itself is very spacious and offers excellent visibility across the vessel. The fold-down bathing platform at the stern ensures comfortable access to the water. At the companionway, there is a practical space for hanging or storing wet sailing gear.
Entering the saloon, you are welcomed by a bright and inviting living area with a U-shaped seating arrangement set on an elevated platform. From here, you enjoy a unique panoramic view – whether under sail or in the marina. At the time of the photo shoot, some upholstery covers were still being cleaned, which is why slight color differences may appear in the images. All covers are complete and in good condition.
To port, the galley is equipped with double sinks, a large countertop, two refrigerators, a stove with oven, and ample storage space. Thanks to partially opening windows, the saloon offers not only plenty of natural light but also excellent cross ventilation.
Aft, the spacious owner’s cabin extends across the full beam of the yacht and features a comfortable island berth. Directly adjacent on starboard is a private en-suite bathroom with a separate shower.
In the forepeak, guests will find a forward cabin with a large V-berth and its own bathroom (to starboard). Generous storage space can be found throughout the yacht – typical for deck saloon yachts and particularly well executed here.
With approximately 2.00 m of headroom in the saloon and a clever multi-level layout, “U2” feels significantly larger than her 12.95 m length would suggest.
The yacht was acquired by the current owner in 2017 and has been used exclusively for private holiday cruising in Croatia. Her berth in Skradin has not been changed since. During longer periods of absence, the yacht was always protected by a full cover. The underwater hull received a fresh antifouling treatment in 2024.
The teak deck shows natural signs of use and will require maintenance or partial renewal in the medium term. Otherwise, “U2” presents herself in a well-maintained and ready-to-sail condition.
In short: a rare, solidly built deck saloon yacht offering exceptional comfort, excellent sailing performance, and the unmistakable feeling of a “living room on the water.” Ideal for couples or families seeking to combine ambitious cruising with stylish onboard living.
Viewings are flexible and can be arranged by appointment in Skradin, Croatia.
