This 1981 Moody 40, designed by Angus Primrose, has been extensively refitted for blue-water cruising. Over the past four years, we have lived aboard and sailed her throughout the Mediterranean, upgrading nearly all critical systems.
Recent Major Overhaul: - Structural: Full osmosis treatment (gelcoat stripped, 9 months drying, reinforced with new fibreglass and sealed with eight layers of epoxy resin). Internal frames (ribs) fully reinforced with 5 layers of biaxial glass and epoxy. New stainless keel bolts, backing plates and TruDesign seacocks (2024). - Engine: Reliable Solé Diesel Mini 55 (2015, 1500hrs). - Rigging & Sails: New standing rigging (2022). New Quantum mainsail and 135% genoa (2024), lazybag and Selden traveler. - Off-Grid Power (2022): 810W solar, 560Ah LiFePO4 battery, Victron inverter/MPPT. Fully rewired. - Systems: New plumbing, water tanks, boiler and windlass (2023). New VHF, AIS receiver (2025) and Garmin InReach. - Safety: 6-person ISO Liferaft (2022, serviced 2024).
To-do’s: While technically turn-key and ocean-worthy, the interior (varnish, floor, headliner) and topside gelcoat require cosmetic attention.
