The Neptun shipyard and the yacht dealers Bootspunkt and Henry Jacobs are developing and building a 22-foot daysailer. The small cruiser is set to make its debut at the Ancora Yacht Festival

The small keelboat segment from Germany has been quiet for a long time. The market is still dominated by a large number of Polish manufacturers, who have occasionally launched various new or relaunched boats on the market. The boom in small boats seems to be waning in our neighbouring country. And now something is happening again in this country with the new small cruiser Milan 22 and others.

Small cruiser with large cockpit and small cabin

The Milan 22 is designed as a trailerable daysailer with a small cabin as storage space and for occasional overnight stays. The enclosed self-draining cockpit will be large, with wide and long bows with plenty of storage space. The area between the thwarts can optionally be used as a sunbathing area. The boat is designed to be sporty but easy to handle. The simple rig does not require a backstay and there is a retractable gennaker pole. The small cruiser will be equipped with a lifting keel and will be unsinkable thanks to around 900 litres of foam at various points in the boat. An outboard engine as a combustion engine or with an electric drive can be considered as an auxiliary drive. The team is aiming for a price of less than 30,000 euros and is focussing on high-quality construction but simple solutions to keep the price low. Overall, the Milan 22 is reminiscent of the Aira 22 from the Netherlands, which was launched on the market in 2018 and attracted a lot of attention.

After the Milan come new Neptuns

The target group consists of families, couples and sailing schools. The Milan 22 is to be used on the Ancora Yacht Festival (31 May to 2 June) will be presented to the public for the first time. The delivery time is currently six to eight weeks. At the same time, Pascal Ernst's Neptun shipyard is announcing a new Neptun 22 and a 27. So: Something is happening again in the scene and in the range of affordable, handy boats.
