The concept envisages a crew of just two people. There will be no exceptions to this. The small boat will be equipped with a self-tacking jib, an extendable bowsprit and a gennaker launcher in the foredeck. With a ready-to-sail total weight of just 600 kilograms, a fully retractable lifting keel and a folding rudder, the Junda KII can be easily slipped over the ramp and transported on the trailer without any problems.
The Junda KII is equipped to a very high standard ex works, with Harken fittings, a carbon fibre mast from Seldén and an electric outboard motor from Torqeedo. It also comes with a complete set of one-design sails from North Sails from the sustainable "Renew" recycling programme. The hull and deck of the Junda KII are built as a sandwich construction with GRP and carbon fibre reinforcements. The vacuum infusion manufacturing process guarantees a uniform overall weight in line with the standardised class. Unfortunately, the shipyard has not yet announced an initial price. We can look forward to that.
Ludovico Fassitelli from Monaco is behind the project. As a successful sailor in various sports boat classes, he has realised his vision of the ultimate one-size-fits-all class with the Junda KII. The project aims to be as easy to handle as possible, easier and less costly to operate with just two people and affordable for young sailors. The plans originate from Umberto Felci's studio.
The prototype has been completed and is currently undergoing intensive testing on Lake Como (see photos in the gallery above). The YACHT test editorial team will also soon be on board. The first boats from the series will then be handed over to their owners in September. A first regatta series is already planned for the winter in Monaco. And: The Junda KII will also be taking part in the legendary Primo Cup in February.
