Rosättra Båtvarv in Sweden is working intensively on its lines and has initial plans for a new Linjett 36, which will be a more compact version of the successful Linjett 39 in the programme

In 2023, the 39er was honoured by the international jury as Europe's Yacht of the Year in the cruising boat category. Its impressive sailing performance in all conditions, its no-frills concept as a performance cruiser with a harmonious compromise and the exceptionally good build and finishing quality helped this attractive yacht to win the coveted title.

Now the yacht builders in Norrtälje in the Swedish eastern archipelago are shortening the successful package by around one metre to create the new Linjett 36. However, hardly any changes have been made to the in-house design, the general appearance or the layout on deck. All sheets, halyards, trim lines and reefing lines are guided inside the cabin superstructure on two stopper batteries on the coamings, where they can also be operated from the helmsman's position. The helmsman has two large winches on each side for setting and trimming the sails and can also work on them easily and efficiently on his own. The stern is semi-open with seats for the helmsman and a passageway to the moulded-in bathing platform.

The sporty sail plan with the comparatively high and sporty aluminium rig from the manufacturer Seldén is also adopted in relation to its larger sister. Buyers can choose whether they want to equip the Linjett 36 with an overlapping genoa (107%) or with a smaller self-tacking jib. Of course, both variants are also possible for different uses. What's more, the 36 will be the first boat in the Linjett model range to be fitted with a permanently attached bowsprit for the gennaker or code zero as standard. These additional sails are stored in the spacious sail locker in the foredeck and are also set from there. The approximately 50 centimetre long bow trunk also serves as an anchor holder and is also wide enough to be useful as a step for boarding and disembarking via the bow.

Inside with two cabins and a bathroom

Unfortunately, the Swedes do not yet have a presentable interior layout available with the announcement of the new model. According to the shipyard's concept description, the Linjett 36 adopts the conventional layout of the larger 39. However, the bathroom in the owner's cabin in the foredeck has been omitted. For the aft extension, the concept dispenses with the option of a second cabin in favour of a very spacious wet room with a separate shower area and a large locker that can also be accessed from the inside.

Rosättra Vårv in Sweden has been in existence since 1886 and is considered the oldest shipyard in Sweden. To date, ten models have been launched under the Linjett brand name and a total of around 900 boats have been built. The hulls and decks of the yachts of modern generations are built using the complex but also very robust vacuum infusion process with Divinycell foam core and vinyl ester resin. The structurally load-bearing bulkheads are bonded to the hull and deck and additionally laminated.

The first Linjett 36 is scheduled for completion in 2025. The first owner's boats will be available from 2026. According to the shipyard, three boats of the new type have already been ordered, directly from the plans. The Swedes have also given YACHT online an initial price estimate: the boat will cost 3,880,000 Swedish kronor in its comprehensive and largely ready-to-sail basic configuration. At the current exchange rate, that is around 338,300 euros or 402,570 euros gross, including 19% VAT.
