The new all-electric stand-up electric drive (SUED) from Coasto is designed to steer in a similar way to an e-scooter. A handlebar protrudes upwards in the front third. The drive is attached to it so that it can be swivelled and its power can be adjusted.
The board is 3.05 metres long and quite wide at 1.05 metres. Together with the drop-stitch high-pressure air chamber, this should ensure high tipping stability. With a permitted payload of 180 kilograms, the board can even be used by two people. The electric drive has an output of 500 watts and is designed to accelerate the E-Motion to 6.5 kilometres per hour. When travelling at a leisurely pace, the 270 watt-hour battery should last for one and a half hours. A battery with double the capacity, which should increase the journey time to three hours, is available as an option. A magnetic contact breaker acts as a dead man's switch and prevents the E-Motion from continuing after a fall into the water.
The drive and control unit is located in a rectangular cut-out in the board and can be separated from it for space-saving packing. The pannier with wheels for the board measures 110 x 50 x 30 centimetres and weighs 13.5 kilograms with the board. The case with the drive unit measures 105 x 37 x 30 centimetres and weighs 14 kilograms. This makes the E-Motion significantly larger, heavier and more unwieldy than a conventional SUP. The board and drive unit cost 1,799 euros.
The Spinera high-pressure air pump from Fun Sports inflates the board electrically using a rechargeable battery. It pressurises a 14' SUP to one bar in just under 12 minutes. The highlight: thanks to the rechargeable battery, no power socket is required. Charging with 12 and 230 volts. It was the test winner in the comparative test in YACHT 9/2022. Price: 248 euros.
The US manufacturer Magma offers mounts for SUPs. These are available in two sizes. The distance between the U-shaped holders is 35 centimetres for the smaller and 50 centimetres for the larger versions. The holders can be folded to the side of the railing. A thick pad prevents scratches and protects the board. Price: from 400 euros.
