BOOTE EXCLUSIV-Ranking 2025The 200 largest sailing yachts in the world - places 25 to 1

25 | Katana | 60.00 m (new entry) : Perini Navi delivered the 60-metre aluminium ketch to Larry Ellison, who is said to have ordered it before the shipyard went bankrupt in 2017. The name and typography alone point to the software tycoon, who is known for his love of Japan. "Katana" (Japanese for "sword") was already the name of one of his iconic 75-metre motor yachts. The US American, who won the America's Cup twice with his Oracle campaigns, already managed a Perini ketch, "Zenji" (56 metres). The new boat has a retractable keel and a carbon rig - signs that Ellison wants the 570-tonner to be sporty. He also opted for a hybrid drive system and entrusted Rémi Tessier with the interior design.

Amazon founder Jeff Bezos shakes up the ranking of the largest sailing yachts for the second time with his 125-metre "Koru". The three-masted gaff schooner from Oceanco takes second place between "Sailing Yacht A" (1st place) and "Black Pearl" (3rd place). The midnight blue steel and aluminium construction impresses not only with its sheer size, but also with its huge sun deck and masts up to 85 metres high. The masts had to be transported separately after the launch in 2022 for transport to the final installation date in Rotterdam. The interior of the megayacht was designed by London-based studio Mlinaric, Henry and Zervudachi. Bezos' yacht is accompanied by a 75-metre-long Damen supply vessel, which can be flown to by his wife by helicopter.

1st place - Sailing Yacht A - 142.81 metres

The 143 metres are still on the chain in Trieste and have cost the Italian state around 27 million euros in maintenance over three years. "SY A" is attributed to Aleksandra and Andrei Melnitschenko, who are both on the EU's sanctions list and are considered owners of the Russian fertiliser giant EuroChem. Both unsuccessfully appealed to the European Court of Justice to release the yacht delivered by German Naval Yards in 2017. French designer Philippe Starck is also said to have designed a library on board - the largest at sea, according to rumours. Even when the 4,500 square metres of sails are not unfurled, the three-master is powered by the wind. The 90 metre long "sabre" carbon masts provide enough surface area for the wind to attack. Motor yacht "A" was not taken away from the Melnitschenkos and cruised off Sri Lanka in the spring.
