Plenty of volume. The corpulent hull shape of the Impression 45 provides plenty of space on and below deck

Elan Yachts in Slovenia announces an update for the Impression 43 from the cruising programme. The changes remain straightforward, but the boat has at least grown in line with its name. The new type designation is Impression 45

In summer 2022, Elan Yachts presented a completely new development for the touring line for the first time in a long time, under the name Impression 43. The design by Humphreys Yacht Design impressed the YACHT test with its coherent concept, which is uncompromisingly geared towards the demands of cruising sailors. Now, just a short time after the market launch in early 2023, the yacht builders in Begunje na Gorenjskem in the Slovenian mountains are already announcing the first refresh. However, the changes remain fairly straightforward: below deck in particular, the interior has been redesigned in parts and improved in detail where necessary. For example, following corresponding criticism in the YACHT test, Wert has lengthened the handrails in the saloon and equipped the fittings with additional recessed grips. A sliding bench seat has also been installed in the saloon, which increases seating capacity, storage space and comfort on the high seas. The shipyard has also installed additional windows in the cabin bulkhead to allow more light into the aft cabins. On the previous Impression 43 model, it remained relatively dark in the aft compartments even during the day.

Bigger on paper than in reality

While the bowsprit for gennakers or Code Zero was previously only available as an option, the trunk with integrated anchor holder is now standard equipment ex shipyard on the new Impression 45 model. Elan Yachts is communicating this measure as a "hull extension", changing the model name from Impression 43 to Impression 45, although with a hull length of 12.82 metres, the boat is still almost exactly 42 feet long. Seen in this light, the new model designation suggests a significantly larger boat than it actually is.

Elan Yachts has also already announced the prices applicable for 2025. The well-equipped basic version of the Elan Impression 45 will cost 373,540 euros (including 19 per cent VAT), including a single set of sails (main and genoa) and a built-in engine. In comparison, the predecessor model Impression 43 was on offer until recently for 368,780 euros gross. This means that the price increase with the new edition remains just as manageable as the changes to the boat.
