Royal Huisman's refit division lengthened the 62-metre schooner "Athos" by 1.25 metres at the stern, added a deckhouse for the crew at the front and renovated the main cockpit and owner's cabin

"Athos" checked in at the Huisfit site in Zaandam for the extensive refit, which almost took on conversion dimensions. In other words, where she was launched in 2010 at Holland Jachtbouw with a length of 62 metres. After the sale at the beginning of 2021, up to fifty skilled workers dedicated themselves to the two-masted schooner for over a year. The main cockpit and deckhouse aft of the main mast were completely remodelled and transformed into flexible areas for twelve people. Behind the foremast, the companionway for the crew was replaced with a third deckhouse including a navigation and second helm station.

The greatest shipbuilding effort was required to lengthen the stern of the aluminium hull designed by Dykstra by 1.25 metres, which involved precisely fitting the concave and convex curves, which ultimately created space for sun loungers.

The owner's cabin and technical equipment have also been revised by Huisfit

The owner's cabin and cockpit were also redesigned aft, overseen by London interior designer Peter Mikic. Huisfit employees gutted the aft suite, remodelled it and refitted it. An additional porthole was added on both sides, one bathroom was turned into two bathrooms and a new walk-in wardrobe was integrated. The panelling was replaced with discreet fabrics and the floorboards are now covered with carpet.

Other improvements included the navigation, alarm and security systems as well as new lighting throughout the ship. The guest areas benefited from a state-of-the-art communications and entertainment package. In addition to the refurbished main tender, a new second tender is parked on deck. Royal Huisman sandblasted the underwater hull down to the bare aluminium and repainted it.
