The South African shipyard with Italian management launched "Nyumba GT", the fourth SW96 and the first model with hybrid propulsion. For the system with 650-volt energy storage and energy generation option via the controllable pitch propeller, Southern Wind cooperated with the British company BAE Systems. Marco Alberti, CEO of Southern Wind, proudly explains: "The main reason for the owner's interest and enthusiasm was the innovation of the HybriGen® propulsion system that we offered him." For the owner, the 58-tonne displacement carbon construction is the fourth sailing yacht on which he and his family will soon be sailing around the world.
The interior layout is classic for a sailing yacht of this size, with the owner's cabin forward, two guest accommodations amidships and the crew areas and galley aft. A TV lounge adjoins the main saloon on the starboard side. The open deck layout by Nauta Design with the short and flat superstructure without side windows is based on that of the SW105 GT "Taniwha". Fast-sailing aspects include the fixed bowsprit, carbon rigging, titanium deck fittings and a lift keel that extends from 3.40 metres to 5.50 metres deep. The Farr-Riss has a width of 6.95 metres, which decreases only minimally at the stern. The garage there offers space for a 4.50 metre dinghy, and the custom-built bathing platform creates a beach club area of more than 8.5 square metres.
