Every year, Mets is the highlight of the trade fair season for shipyards, chandlers and service companies. Manufacturers present their latest products there, which are set to enrich the market in the coming season. There are also some innovations in the area of safety, which we would like to present here.
The small clip developed by Norwegian manufacturer Regatta is as simple as it is ingenious: it is clipped onto the release mechanism of the automatic waistcoat, allows the CO2 cylinder to be screwed in easily and prevents it from coming loose accidentally.
Proteus Innovations from Spain has developed Nautic, a remote-controlled rescue system. It is similar to the U-Safe ( See also test in YACHT 24/2020 ), but offers more functions: For example, the person on the buoy can also take over the controls themselves and communicate with the rescuers using a hands-free system. Top speed 16 kilometres per hour, 50 minutes on one battery charge, 18 kilograms in weight. Price: 10,700 euros.
The Pop Fender developed in Austria heralds a revolution in the hull protector market and has been available to order online since September. The fender measures 62 x 16 centimetres, is suitable for boats up to three tonnes and costs 96 euros. Two elements can be produced in colour for an additional 33 euros. A larger model is in preparation.
Seavision from Slovenia offers Vision Anchor (€2,600), a marker buoy that transmits a video image of the anchor. The Position Anchor (pictured, €760) does not have a camera, but does have an automatic anchor alarm.
