At the end of the Superyacht Cup Palma there were ideal conditions and the third overall victory in a row for the Wally 80 "Rose". Both groups were extremely close, with the four Baltic 68 Café Racers playing a special role.

The conditions were at their best on both the second and third and final day. With 10-16 knots of wind and calm seas, the race organisers sent the fleet of eleven yachts on a 23 nautical mile course with five legs across the bay of Palma. "It was fantastic sailing conditions all week, with flat water and great winds," enthused "Rose" skipper Ben Potter. "The organisation is great, the communication is clear and easy to understand, the safety aspect is fantastic. We just love this event."

Exciting final with equal points

Before the decisive race on St. Regis Race Day, three yachts were tied at the top of the overall standings: "Cervo", "Gelliceaux" and "Rose" each had four points to their name. In Group A, the 39-metre tripp construction "Cervo" and the 36-metre Southern Wind "Gelliceaux" a thrilling duel for the class victory. In the end, "Gelliceaux" came out on top with a narrow one-minute lead and a 2-2-2 series.

In Group B, the title-defending "Rose" crew had to assert themselves against the Y8 "Sveam" and four Baltic 68 Café Racers: "Ganesha", "Open Season", "Pink Gin Verde" and "Scorpione Hormar". Although "Open Season" secured the class win with a flawless series of three daily victories ahead of "Rose" and "Ganesha", the café racers were not considered super yachts due to their hull length of less than 20 metres.

"Rose" wins another crooked cleat

Only yachts over 24 metres in length were allowed to sail for the overall victory, the "Big Bent Cleat" challenge prize. As "Rose" took second place in all three races and thus, like "Gelliceaux", collected a total of six points, the number of participants in the respective group was decisive. Here, the Wally 80 had to prevail against five crews. The "Rose" crew managed the hat-trick, winning the overall ranking of the Superyacht Cup Palma three times in a row.

"What a phenomenal event and what a great day of sailing," said a jubilant Ben Potter at the finish. "We're really thrilled to be on top of the podium for the third time in a row. To make history at the Superyacht Cup Palma is just marvellous. The boat ran brilliantly, the crew fought hard and we are absolutely ecstatic."

"Linnea Aurora" shines in Group A

In Group B, the 39 metre long "Linnea Aurora" to make up for a lot. After a DNC on the first day due to technical problems, the Truly Classic 128 won the two remaining races at its regatta premiere. The "Linnea Aurora" team thus beat its sister ships, also designed by Andre Hoek "Vijonara" and "Atalante" into second place. However, sixth place on the first day meant that "Linnea Aurora" did not make it onto the podium in the overall standings.

Outlook for the 2026 anniversary edition

"Once again we have seen spectacular racing in excellent conditions from a wide range of fantastic yachts," summarised event director Kate Branagh. She thanked all the owners, skippers and crews for their participation as well as the partners and supporters of the event. She particularly emphasised the new venue Club de Mar-Mallorca and the St. Regis Mardavall Mallorca Resort. The Superyacht Cup Palma will celebrate its 30th anniversary next year and will take place from 24 to 27 June 2026.
