"On 25 April 1973, the , Hiddensee I ' was baptised. Since then, the whole country has been dabbling, moulding, organising, building, tinkering, launching ships and finally sailing for many years. More than 600 hulls have been built! These ships were and are sailed hard and fought for every metre, but for generations they have also been holiday boats for family and friends. They were the centre of our lives, our joy, fun and freedom, simply our lives - and often still are today!"
There are great emotions involved when the fans of the distinctive boat drum up for the meeting - no wonder, the boats that once helped to shape the face of GDR sailing were built entirely by themselves, usually at unimaginable sacrifice today, and only possible with the appropriate organisational talent. This spirit carries the remaining examples to this day. They are loved, cared for, but also sailed hard.
The programme includes arrival on Friday, 2 June, mooring at the Möwensteg in the marina on the Dänholm and applause from those who have already arrived. Then cold drinks and refreshments from the barbecue. On Saturday, after a squadron race, the official festive evening with a speech and live music by "VEB Rock und Arne Lifson" took place. After a group hug and the boats are untied, the celebrated squadron sets off on its journey home.
We invite all owners of this fast yacht to the 50th anniversary of its first launch. On the Dänholm. With live music, beer and good conversation."
The event has already attracted 60 registered boats, whose owners maintain the cult of the former Trabbi at sea. On the website, which was created especially for the event, it is possible to download the leave of absence from work required for sports-related absences in the GDR era:
"For all workers taking part in the programme, here is the official release. In an action lasting several hours, sports friend Schönrock wrestled the following document from the DTSB and had to commit to creating a thematic wall newspaper in return."
Next to it is the disclaimer: "Anyone who arrives at the event properly combed, well-rested and well-prepared has signed the document below between the change of underwear."
