The mid-layer jacket and salopette called HPX Gore-Tex Infinium from the British premium manufacturer keep sailors warm in low temperatures. Thanks to the high salopette, this new combination warms the upper body twice over. The mid layer is the second layer under the oilskin, which is characterised by particularly good thermal insulation and is worn between the base layer (functional underwear) and the oilskin. The jacket is lined with Primaloft and is very breathable. This is extremely important in order to effectively wick away perspiration during high levels of activity. The material is therefore only protected against splashing water. However, the jacket can also be worn without oilskins in good weather. If there is a heavy shower, the waterproof outer layer must be used again.
The jacket has several pockets for small items of equipment and to keep your hands warm when you're not wearing oilskins. The sleeves are pre-shaped for good freedom of movement, the cuffs are adjustable and the inside of the collar is lined with soft fabric. The top is cut very long at the back so that the kidney area is always covered, even when bent over.
The salopette is reinforced at the knees and seat and closes high up to the chest. The stretch inserts on the shoulders allow it to adapt very well to movement. The new drop-seat construction - i.e. a large flap on the buttocks - is designed to make going to the toilet easier.
Both items are made from 100 per cent recycled polyester fibre and are available in sizes XS to XXL in black. The HPX Infinium Mid-Layer Jacket and Salopette cost 389 euros each.

The Norwegian company Thrustme has launched the Kicker, a super-compact electric outboard motor. The whisk weighs just 4.7 kilograms and delivers up to 16 kilograms of thrust in forward gear. This makes it ideal for small dinghies, although speed records are of course not to be expected. With the integrated lithium battery, the kicker should provide up to 2.5 hours of propulsion. However, this is in the lowest of six gears. In the fastest gear, the battery is empty in 30 minutes. The battery has a capacity of 259 watt hours. With the charger supplied, the battery should be fully charged in four hours. There is an optional fast charger, which can charge the battery four times faster in one hour.
The propeller sits in a tunnel. This protects against both damage and injury. The small motor is supplied in a bag. It has space for the accessories: remote control, magnetic emergency stop with wrist strap and the 230-volt charger. As with other outboards, the kicker can be folded up. What is special, however, is that the length of the shaft can be adjusted. This means that the draught is variable.
In addition to the already lightweight Kicker, Thrustme also produces the Cruise version, which is designed as an even more compact drive for kayaks.
In Germany, the Thrustme kicker is only available in the Echolotzentrum online shop and costs €1,299.
