The devices combine the user interface and hardware introduced with the Zeus S series with the operating concept of the Zeus 3S models, i.e. a rotary-push controller and function keys are available in addition to the touchscreen. As with the Zeus S plotters, the software is now based on an Android operating system. Thanks to an 8-core processor, operation should be significantly smoother. There are hardly any delays when switching between applications or when zooming and panning in charts. The speed should be particularly noticeable when working with the latest C-Map charts. Speaking of maps: As with the S models, B&G relies entirely on its own C-Map data from the Discover X and Reveal X series. Navionics chips can no longer be used.
The user interface of the Zeus SR is now more orientated towards smartphones. Sailors can pin frequently used apps for quick access. There is a choice of three modes to better organise the range of functions:
A new feature is the configurable action buttons, which can be used to call up important functions directly. The display has a resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels and, according to B&G, should be easy to read from all angles and even with polarised sunglasses. The brightness is over 1200 nits.
The Zeus SR supports NMEA 2000, Ethernet and WLAN. It can be coupled with HALO radar units, Triton2 pilots and instruments as well as various sensors. IP cameras can also be connected. There are no NMEA 0183 interfaces or an integrated fishfinder. However, the sonar functions can be retrofitted via an external module. A separate converter is required for NMEA 0183.
B&G offers the Zeus SR in display sizes of 10, 12 and 16 inches. The dimensions of the 10-inch version are 287.9 x 176.1 x 79.6 mm and are therefore slightly larger than the 9-inch predecessor models. A direct exchange is therefore not possible. Prices start at 3212 euros. The device should be on sale in time for the start of the season.
