With the IFS Multi Tradewind Sail, Onesails presents an evolution of the traditional tradewind sail. The double sail combines two flat furling gennakers and promises up to 35 per cent more surface area than conventional spinnakers.

The Multi Tradewind Sail from OneSails integrates two gennakers on a single furling system. The sails are equipped with the Integrated Furling Structure (IFS) technology and do not require stiff anti-torsion cables. The result is a lighter, more powerful configuration with a significantly larger sail area compared to conventional double genoas or a spinnaker.

Adaptable for all downwind courses

The sails can be used individually or together and are suitable for all rough courses. In the double configuration for deep downwind courses with wind angles between 165° and 180°, the sails are travelled with separate sheets. In this way, they open symmetrically as a trade wind sail and form a stable, efficient setup, similar to a double genoa. Unlike traditional double genoas, however, these sails can simply be rolled up, removed and stowed in a compact spinnaker bag. The total area can be up to 35 per cent larger than that of a symmetrical spinnaker, with the extra area concentrated in the lower part of the sail, which should make the boat less susceptible to rolling and dipping of the bow. For higher courses up to 90°, the clews of the two sails are connected with a rope shackle and the sails are travelled one on top of the other on one side. The trade wind sail then replaces the gennaker.

Versatile passat sail

The system uses a normal endless furling system and reduces the number of sail changes required on ocean crossings and other long-distance journeys. The Passat sail is suitable for both multihull and monohull boats. For monohulls, the overall width should be designed according to whether or not spinnaker poles are used.
