Easy to read and networked: Mast displays for racers or pointer instruments with a retro look
The British company A+T Instruments offers a wide range of displays and instruments. The company specialises in equipping superyachts, but also has interesting products for cruising yachtsmen. The BFD, short for Big Format Display (far left in the picture), measures 324 x 212 x 55 millimetres (dimensions correspond to B&G's 40/40) and is intended as a mast display. It is designed to offer particularly good brightness and readability. Thanks to a range of interfaces such as CAN bus for B&G and Garmin devices, Ethernet and HDMI, the range of applications is variable. Price: 5,600 euros.
With the MFD, A+T also produces smaller multifunctional displays that match the dimensions of the B&G H2000. Price from 1,740 euros. In addition to the screens, the company also offers analogue pointer instruments that look retro but can be integrated into current networked systems. Price from 1,340 euros.
The first plotter from NKE in France is a co-operation with the Finnish manufacturer Q-Experience. The device is available on the market in three versions from 10 to 16 inches and works with Navionics charts. In addition to NMEA 2000, the plotter also supports NKE's own Topline bus system. Radar antennas from Raymarine can be connected. The plotter is also equipped with Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and an LTE modem. This means it can act as a router and be used to monitor the boat. Even remote control of the heating or cooling scupper can be realised via app. Sailing functions are also on board. From 2,500 euros.
With the Zeus S, Brookes & Gatehouse presents its first plotter with an Android operating system. This is accompanied by the division of functions into sailing modes. Depending on whether the device is being used for cruising or racing, only the relevant functions and data records are displayed. A special feature of the Zeus S is the predictive shallow water alarm. This uses chart data to issue warnings of potential grounding, regardless of the zoom level set. There is a choice of three models with 7-, 9- or 12-inch screen diagonals. Prices start at 999 euros.
Six-core processors, brighter displays, twice as much memory and improved GPS receivers - the British have updated the hardware of the Axiom Pro series. As a result, the map is supposed to be faster and several apps can be run simultaneously. The lighting is controlled by an ambient light sensor. In addition, the displays have an extremely water and grease-repellent coating, which should improve operation in wet conditions. A special feature is the interchangeable keypad. A control panel for the autopilot or freely programmable soft keys can be used. Price from 2,495 euros.
The manufacturer E-Propulsion has two new lithium batteries in its programme. The E60 and E163 models are part of the E series. With 3,072 and 8,345 watt hours respectively, they complement the existing models, although the design has been completely revised. The E60 weighs 33 kilograms, measures 300 x 290 x 512 millimetres (HxWxL) and is designed to supply the Navy 3.0 Evo e-drive with power. E163 weighs 76 kilograms, is slightly higher at 495 x 295 x 470 millimetres and is particularly suitable for the Navy 6.0 Evo. Both batteries have a voltage of 48 volts, a small display and can be networked with the E-Propulsion drive system via CAN bus. The lithium iron phosphate batteries are waterproof to IP67.

The company Stoov from Utrecht offers heating pads and blankets. The power for the heaters comes from the integrated battery. This means that the bunk can be heated in a very energy-saving way during the cold season. The Big Hug XL model measures 45 x 135 centimetres and is available with two battery variants: 1.5 to 3 hours (2,600 milliamp hours) and 3 to 6 hours (4,500 milliamp hours) of heat. The latter costs 20 euros extra. Price from 150 euros >> available here .
TBS has developed an anti-slip coating called 4 Ribs especially for inflatable boats. The 30 x 60 centimetre strips have rounded corners and can be glued directly onto the tubes. Made from a polyurethane-elastomer complex, the strips offer good grip when boarding and are resistant to UV rays and salt water. Available in white, beige, black, brown and grey, two strips per pack. The price is not yet fixed.
