The Origami Solar Panel from the Italian company Levante can be folded up to save space. It is designed to provide power at the railing, for example, and can be folded away for manoeuvring in port. The cells are arranged on a movable carbon fibre frame. The panel measures around 1.5 x 1 metre (unfolded) and is said to have an output of 300 watts. It weighs ten kilograms including the frame. The Origami is currently only available to pre-order at a price of 1,400 euros.
Fixclip offers storm-proof clips and, with the Fixclip Mini, now also offers one in a handy format. The clip has several areas for different railing wire thicknesses. These range from 2 to 5 and from 6 to 10 millimetres. The holding force is said to be up to twelve kilograms. There are also two additional hooks on the Fixclip for attaching items of clothing to the clip. Pack of 16 from 7 euros.
With a vertical stem, there is a high probability that the anchor will leave scratches on the hull when hauling up. A protective plate on the leading edge of the stern or, better still, an anchor gallows that protrudes far over the bow can help. Anchorlift Technic now offers a retractable model that is designed to look more elegant. The anchor sits on a slide that is extended using a gas pressure spring. When retrieving the anchor, the ground bar including the carriage is simply retracted using a winch. The system currently only works with anchors from the manufacturer and is available in sizes from ten to 150 kilograms anchor weight. Price from 1,500 euros.
