Mirka is expanding its range of tools with the Polaros RP 600 corded rotary polisher. 150 mm in diameter, the machine is primarily aimed at professionals in bodywork and ship repair. However, its low weight and quiet operation also make it interesting for owners. In contrast to conventional rotary polishers, which are often characterised by long, high designs and protruding handles, the Polaros RP 600 has a flat, compact design. This shape allows the user to keep their hands closer to the polishing surface, resulting in greater stability and control during work.
One of the main innovations of the polishing machine is the integrated ramp-up function. This gently increases the speed when the user applies more pressure to the surface being worked on. The practical effect of this is to significantly reduce the splashing of polishing agent, resulting in a cleaner working environment. As a counterpart to this, the machine has a ramp-down function that automatically reduces the speed if too much pressure is applied. This is intended to protect both the tool and the surface being worked on from damage.
The Polaros RP 600 is powered by a 750 watt brushless motor and has a speed range of 700 to 2,500 rpm. Despite these performance data, the polishing machine only weighs 1.75 kg, which enables fatigue-free working even over longer periods of time. Comparable polishing machines of conventional design usually weigh 2.3 to 4 kg. The low noise level is particularly noteworthy: even at maximum power, the noise level remains below 60 dB. An enormously low value that makes working in the winter warehouse much more pleasant. However, the technology comes at a price: at around 660 euros, the Polaros RP 600 is at the top end of the range, even when compared with other professional polishers from Festool, Fein or Flex.
