After the Excess 11 the new model 14 is the second completely newly developed catamaran in the line. In addition to the classic three-cabin and four-cabin layouts, the Excess 14 is also available in a third version with three cabins and a multifunctional and storage space in the bow of the starboard hull, where two additional berths can be folded out if required. A concept that should particularly appeal to owners who are travelling with the boat for longer periods.
With the optional Pulse Line package, the Excess has a sail area of 135 square metres, which allows it to sail well even in light winds. During our test off Port Ginesta (near Barcelona), the catamaran also travelled extremely well upwind and cruised far better than many of its competitors.
With a base price of 495,000 euros (excluding VAT), it is also significantly cheaper. On the other hand, the manufacturing quality is somewhat simpler in detail. However, if this doesn't bother you and you are comfortable with Ikea furniture at home, the Excess offers great value for money.
