Nautor Swan moves after the Takeover by Sanlorenzo last year. Under the leadership of Massimo Perotti, the Italian motor yacht builders made a rapid ascent, crowned by the IPO in 2019. The rapidly growing metal division, which Antonio Santella built up for Sanlorenzo, made a significant contribution to this success. Santella, who, like his brother Luca Santella, is a passionate and successful sailor, is now also tasked with accurately placing Nautor's superyachts on the market and heads a new product committee.
New Swans are to be designed by Germán Frers and Judel/Vrolijk alongside Antonio Santella. Massimo Perotti, the new majority owner of Nautor, and Leonardo Ferragamo - the Italian led the Finnish shipyard to new splendour - are also involved in developing the new models. The first project of the exclusive circle: a 42-metre aluminium Slup. The Bremerhaven-based company is to construct and the Briton Malcolm McKeon into shape. Even with the very large Swans, the aim is to preserve Nautor's aesthetic.
Antonio Santella comments: "We are retaining the beauty of the lines and working on comfort and long-distance cruising without compromising on sailing characteristics. Sustainability is being realised with various solutions, from hydrogen production to other sources." The aluminium slup could be built in the region around Viareggio. Perini Navi manufactured around 60 supersailers there for almost four decades. Following Perini's insolvency in 2021, many skilled yacht builders have remained in Tuscany, and Sanlorenzo also has its headquarters in nearby Ameglia.
Swan models up to 128 feet are built at Nautor's headquarters in Jakobstad, Finland. Construction number 1 of the 39 metre long carbon construction was recently pulled out of the paint shop by the Finns. Germán Frers' elegant crack shone in classic dark blue with gold trim. The Swan 128, of which a second unit is under construction, is due to be launched in the spring. Nautor's largest yacht to date, the Swan 131, was launched in 2006.
