X-Yachts has revised the X4.6. The new version, called Mk II, is said to sail even better and has been improved in many details.

With the X 4.6 Mk II, X-Yachts is following the successful concept of targeted model upgrades, as already implemented in the X4.3 Mk II and X4.9 Mk II. The new X-4.6 Mk II retains the same basic dimensions: 14.37 metres overall length and 4.27 metres maximum beam. The draught is offered at 2.30 metres for the standard version and 2.50 metres for the deep keel version. The Danish shipyard is thus continuing its strategy of refining tried-and-tested boats through a variety of optimisations rather than presenting completely new developments.

German Cupper System for better control

One of the most important visible changes to the X-4.6 MkII concerns the mainsheet system. The second generation adopts the German cupper system, in which the mainsheet runs along the boom forwards to the chine bearing, on both sides of the deck and back aft to two winches that can be reached from the wheels. This means that the sheet can always be operated from upwind and the traveller runs more easily. What's more, the mainsheet can be hauled tight by two people at the same time in a gybe in stronger winds, for example, and can just as easily be reefed again. The system is also very suitable for a small crew,

X-Yachts has extended the cockpit benches on the X 4.6 Mk II and redesigned the side backrests. The aim is to improve comfort both at sea and in the harbour or at anchor. For the helmsman, the longer coamings provide additional support, which is useful when sailing on a room-sheet course or in heavy seas.

S-bug and extended rear opening

The revised X-4.6 Mk II adopts the S-bow already seen on the newer Pure X models. This design changes the silhouette of the boat, but also fulfils a practical requirement. It allows the installation of larger anchors without disturbing the deck layout.

The rear design has also evolved, with a wider rear opening. This modification improves the traffic routes on board and access to the rear platform.

Improvements below deck

Below deck, the new, larger hull windows make an impact. The window area has been increased by 35 per cent, flooding the interior with natural light - this increases the feeling of space and improves the atmosphere in every cabin and in the saloon. The storage volume in the owner's cabin has been increased: more and better usable storage space in the wardrobe and improved storage of clothes on hangers. A seat next to the berth is now available as an option. The bathrooms have been fitted with new Corian worktops and moulded GRP washbasins.

X-Yachts sticks to proven technology

The empty weight of the new X-4.6 Mk II is 11,365 kilograms with a ballast of 4,500 kilograms. These figures position the yacht in a clearly defined category of units that can maintain a fast cruising schedule, with constant potential under sail and an interior volume compatible with long voyages. The revised version is powered by a 57 hp diesel engine. The tank capacities remain in the mid-range of the segment, with 280 litres of fuel and 360 litres of fresh water. And thanks to more powerful bow and stern thrusters, harbour manoeuvring has never been easier: more safety, control and confidence - even in demanding conditions, according to X-Yachts.

X-Yachts' proven epoxy-vacuum infusion construction method and the characteristic X-Yachts steel latticework remain unchanged on the X 4.6 Mk II. The shipyard's Pure X philosophy of combining performance and comfort continues in the revised version.

The X 4.6 Mk II is offered at a price of 689,000 euros.
