Saare 47: timeless lines, modern design

The shipyard from Estonia under German management is launching a new blue water ship for upmarket requirements that can be highly customised

The new flagship from Saare Yachts comes with timeless lines, only the large windows in the superstructure and hull and the rather steep stern with steps and bathing platform are more modern design features. Otherwise, the shipyard run by Thomas Nielsen from Yachtsport Eckernförde is sticking to the tried and tested: a reasonable amount of freeboard, a hull that narrows towards the stern, a high bulwark as a toe rail and a rubbing strake moulded into the hull. There is plenty of storage space on deck in the stern, in the cockpit and especially in the large sail stowage area.

The Saare 47 is designed for four people

The interior in kaya mahogany or oak veneers is also very traditional. The layout is optimised for four people. The owner's area is located in the stern, where there is a wide centre berth and a large ensuite bathroom. Guests live forward, where there is a second wet room. A large full-length or half-split berth is possible there. The standard galley is not located in the aft passageway, as is usual on many centre cockpit yachts, but next to the companionway to starboard. The alternative is a galley to port and offset aft. The space freed up can then be utilised with a bunk bed cabin or a completely partitioned office space or generous navigation area.

The design of the Saare 47 and the components are top shelf. Without exception, the laminates are produced using vinyl ester resin in a vacuum infusion process. Doors and cabinet flaps are made from veneered Honeycombe foam panels, which provides an immense weight and strength advantage. The floor assembly is made of GRP and anchored in the ship with numerous angle laminates. The deck-hull connection and the bulkheads are fully laminated. The keel is made of lead.

The equipment on the Saare 47 is very extensive and high quality. From the electric anchor windlass to the sprayhood, from the inverter to the safe, many things are built in that usually cost extra. The standard price is 885,500 euros. An electric drive from Oceanvolt with 25 kW output and generator can be installed.
