The new international travel health insurance for long-distance travellers takes into account the individual requirements of sailors on extended voyages, such as sailing around the world, the Hamburg-based insurance broker explains. No permanent residence is required. The only requirement is that the policyholder's last place of residence was in the European Economic Area. Pre-existing illnesses also do not have to be reported. The policy was specially developed for crew members and skippers and is automatically renewed for a further year at the end of the term. There is no time limit, meaning that trips lasting several years can also be insured without any problems.
"The premium is also based exclusively on the age of the insured persons and not on the duration of the trip, as is the case with many comparable products," according to a statement from Pantaenius. Insured persons would also benefit from a 24/7 emergency hotline that provides support in German and English.
