Territory update Netherlands 2026:

Buitenhuizer Brug

It's like déjà vu: the first bridge coming from the north on the Noordzeekanaal into the Zijkanaal C is broken. This bridge is part of the western section of the Staande Mastroute, which is therefore impassable for sailing yachts. Unfortunately, the eastern part is also impassable. This means that the Staande Mastroute is currently still impassable. Rijkswaterstaat cannot give a specific date for a repair.

Noordzeekanaal

The busy channel was already continuously divided into sectors that must be heard on the VHF radio on board. Now another radio sector has been added around Amsterdam Central Station. Yachts do not have to actively register, but must be ready to listen.

IJ

It's a done deal: the bridge over the IJ is coming. It will connect the Java Island and the Aeolushaven and will probably have a movable opening for each direction of travel. The construction date has been pushed back and the costs are rising. Completion is currently planned for 2035.

The stretch from the IJmeer to the Schellingwouderbrug has a fairway next to the actual fairway that is specifically intended for pleasure craft. This can currently only be used up to a draught of two metres. The same applies to the waiting areas at the lock. If the draught is more than two metres, these areas should be avoided.

Schipholbrug

The important bridge in the eastern Staande Mastroute south of Amsterdam was newly built. The opening ceremony was already planned. But then parts of the bridge were destroyed again during a final test. Much needs to be renewed and improved. It is currently unclear whether the planned reopening can take place this year.

Vecht

From the 2026 season, a vignette for the Vecht in Weesp will be compulsory. The "Doorvaartvignet voor Amsterdam en Weesp" costs 45 euros and is valid for three years.
