Sailing under the Luxembourg flag, the "Enjoy the Silence" reached Grenada yesterday as the first ship in the cruising flotilla across the Atlantic. The crew needed 10 days, 4 hours and 38 minutes to cover the 2,150 nautical mile route from Cape Verde to the Caribbean.

The sailors led by skipper Jean Jullien were welcomed on site by employees of the marina, representatives of the island government and staff from the World Cruising Club. In addition to the ARC+, the British sailing rally organiser is also hosting the ARC, which is currently running in parallel.

The bulk of the field is expected towards the end of the week

The next ARC+ boats will reach Grenada later today, but the main field is not expected to make landfall until the end of the week. The majority of the ARC participants, who set off directly from Gran Canaria to the Caribbean last Sunday, still have a long way to go. The majority of the fleet is only just celebrating their first day on the 2,700 nautical mile journey.

In the social networks, the sailors on board are now reporting quite good trade wind conditions after a rather dull start. They are passing the time with maintenance work on the boat, fishing or reading. Some yachts, on the other hand, have run into extensive fields of seaweed. In some cases, they have a hard time getting rid of the strands of vegetation clinging to the keel and rudder.

First ship of the ARC fleet is expected to reach Saint Lucia on Sunday

The Volvo 65 "Nextgen by Jajo" is expected to be the first ship in the ARC fleet to reach its destination on Saint Lucia next Sunday. The majority of the field, on the other hand, will not arrive on the Caribbean island until the middle of next week.
