The Swedish island of Ven in the Øresund is not only amazingly diverse, but also predestined for a tour around it by bike. We provide tips for a cycle tour.
  • Route: 14.5 km
  • Difficulty:light
  • Gradient:130 m
  • Pure journey time: 1 h15

Tip: A bottle of the island whisky looks good in any on-board bar and is also a great souvenir

The tour starts in Bäckviken (1), the largest harbour on the island. If you don't have your own bike, you can hire one just behind the harbour, where there are hundreds to choose from.

A small road runs to the south-west, from which you turn off onto a narrow gravel path that runs along the wooded cliffs (2) leads. After a few hundred metres, we head inland again, directly to the Tycho Brahe Museum (3). The Danish astronomer built his observatory here in the 16th century. In Tuna (4) there is a small restaurant serving Swedish cuisine and a playground. Head back towards the coast to the whitewashed old island church of St Ibb (5). The view from here is magnificent.

At the harbour of Kyrkbacken (6) the route continues to the small Vestra Fyr (7) before finally heading towards the north coast. The Skåneleden nature trail (8) is easy to follow and takes you to Norreborg (9), where you can swim in the sea right next to the small harbour. Before that, however, we highly recommend a detour to the "Spirit of Hven Backafallsbyn" (10). There you can sample the best Swedish whisky.

The next detour is to the "Konstnärsgården Marielund" (11), where the barn and garden merge into an artistic oasis. At the eastern tip of the island, the Kraken lighthouse (12) awaits before the island tour is complete.
