With the Woy 26, Jan Brügge offers wooden yachts in series production at his Königstein shipyard. The boat emerged from an award-winning sustainability project

Last summer, the BioBasedBoats project the Jan Brügge Bootsbau GmbH from Arnis from the state of Schleswig-Holstein honoured with a sustainability award. This summer, the prototype of the resulting bio-based boat is set to float - and if Jan Brügge has his way, it will also go into series production.

According to Brügge, the initial idea was to use innovative composite materials and production techniques to increase efficiency in bio-based boat and yacht construction and thus promote the protection of the environment and resources. The project was realised in collaboration with the University for Sustainable Development in Eberswalde.

The result is the uncompromising day-racer Woy 26: "With the aim of further developing wooden boat building, we have developed the Woy 26, the first yacht in our boatyard series, together with the designer and passionate sailor Martin Menzner. Made from hand-picked local woods, with a radically modern crack and equipped with innovative technology, it embodies our idea of a modern wooden sailing yacht," says Jan Brügge about the boat, which he has been presenting on the website since today. www.woy-yachts.com presented.
