Lots of deck space, a high bow and a clinker look. Swallow Yachts follows its unmistakable brand DNA in terms of design

Exciting addition to the programme of small, cuddly coastal cruisers from Swallow Yachts in the UK. The Welsh company is now revealing initial plans for a new Baycruiser 21. The small boat is set to make its world premiere at the boot trade fair in Düsseldorf in January 2024

The new small cruiser also comes unmistakably from the shipyard near the small town of Cardigan in Wales. Shipyard owner and designer Matt Newland has also given it the typical brand DNA. In other words: a classic clinker look with a pronounced deck moulding and high bow, plus a positive yacht stern and a small, compact cabin superstructure. All in all: pretty, smart, attractive.

Like all boats from Swallow Yachts, the new Baycruiser 21 is equipped with a swivelling keel that can be completely raised into the hull, as well as a swivelling rudder blade. This means that the small cruiser can be sailed to the beach without any problems and can be dropped dry in tidal waters without hesitation. It is also easy to launch and retrieve at the slipway and can be transported on a trailer anyway.

Baycruiser 21: can be used as a versatile touring boat

The GRP Baycruiser 21 weighs just 600 kilograms, but is already equipped with a water ballast tank with a capacity of 400 litres as standard. The flexible ballast, together with the deep but recoverable ballast centreboard, ensures plenty of righting moment and good, stiff sailing characteristics in windy conditions. When there is little wind and for transport, the ballast tank is simply deflated. This keeps the boat light and the sailing characteristics agile. The simple rig, without spreaders and backstay, is made of carbon fibre as standard ex-shipyard and is easy to set or lay by hand. The Baycruiser 21 is also equipped with an extendable bowsprit for an additional gennaker or a furling code zero.

Two people can sleep comfortably below deck, and there is also a designated space to accommodate a simple chemical toilet. For use as a touring boat, the self-draining cockpit can also be completely closed with a cake stand.

Swallow Yachts has also already named a price for the Baycruiser 21: the small boat, which will be on show as a new product at the boot trade fair in Düsseldorf in January, costs 27,650 British pounds with the basic equipment including sails. At the current exchange rate, that is around 31,700 euros net and 37,700 euros gross including 19% VAT.
