With the exception of a three-year detour to Cologne, Nils Leiterholt has spent his entire life not far from the shores of Lake Möhne. His interest in sailing began at an early age, so there are several pictures of his grandfather's Dehlya 22 pulling squeaky ducks and small boats through the water on the “Westphalian Sea”. Always with him: the orange life jacket with the great whistle. He went on longer trips with his father's Emka Elvström 31 on the Ijsselmeer and the Wadden Sea. After many hours in a 470 and his first “real” keelboat, a Dehler Varianta 65 from 1972, he is now at home on a Botnia H-boat. After graduating from high school, Nils initially trained as a farmer in the fields and in the stables, and since he is also involved in public relations work for his district in addition to his voluntary work as a soccer referee, he joined YACHT and BOOTE EXCLUSIV after completing his two-year training. Nils has been part of the team since August 2023 and is mainly active in the “News & Reportage” department. Due to his regatta activities, for example in the 2nd German Sailing League, he is also interested in sporting topics.
