The new chairwoman of the Trans-Ocean ocean sailing association announced her resignation on Sunday after just three months in office. The association made the announcement today, Tuesday.
The reasons are as follows:
"At a meeting with the entire Board, she justified her resignation by citing the heavy double burden of voluntary work and her job, which she is currently unable to fulfil. In addition to her work as a qualified psychologist, she no longer felt that she could adequately take care of her Board duties. She chose this early point in time because she no longer wanted to be involved in the imminent recruitment and induction of a managing director with whom she would not later work herself. The Board of Trans-Ocean e.V. and Lore Haack-Vörsmann regret this step, as the cooperation between her and the members of the Board has developed in a very friendly and collegial manner."
Haack-Vörsmann's assumption of the chairmanship of the board ended a lean period of over a year in which the association had to make do without an appointment to the top position. The entire board, but especially the deputy chairman Egon Lutomsky, had hoped that the appointment of the experienced ocean sailor would bring some continuity to the club's leadership.
In order to relieve the burden on the Board of Directors and to raise the association's work to a more professional level, it is therefore intended to a managing director is appointed who will work closely with the Executive Board. The application deadline is 15 February.
The gap left by Lore Haack-Vörsmann's surprising resignation will once again be filled by the second chairperson. Egon Lutomsky confirmed that he would take over the leadership of the association until the next general meeting until a new chairperson is elected. However, the lawyer from Bremen also announced that he himself would no longer be available for an executive board position after ten years on the board.
A detailed interview with Lore Haack-Vörsmann on her assumption of office was published in YACHT 1/2022.
