Watch out, more checks are being carried out
The waterway police forces of Lower Saxony, Bremen, Hamburg, Schleswig-Holstein and Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania are organising the "Maritime Safety Days". and start the first joint inspection weeks of the year on 18 April, just in time for the start of the season

The "Maritime Safety Days" stand for increased preventative monitoring of all road users on the water. According to the waterway police, the aim is to prevent impairment and damage to shipping and pleasure craft traffic. Over the next two weeks, we can therefore expect to see significantly more checks on the water.

The following overview is therefore intended to provide guidance on what belongs on board and which documents you should have to hand, even if they are not required by law. To keep things organised, we distinguish between documents relating to the yacht itself and its equipment and those relating to the skipper and crew.

Water protectors and owners are also often unsure about the equipment requirements for recreational craft - because these are not specifically defined anywhere. In fact, hardly any owners are really sure what must be on board and what only should be. We do the fact check.
