The outdoor trade fair: a great weekend trip if the weather plays ball
The Hamburg Ancora Yacht Festival from 20 to 22 May is the first major German boat show this year. We present all the German and world premieres here

The premieres

(As of 16. 5. 2022, changes are possible at short notice, please read on the official exhibitor list )

Aeolos P30

The visually exciting design is built entirely from carbon fibre by Hans Genthe in Dubai. The P30 is uncompromisingly designed as a pure racer and is intended to function in both IRC and ORC handicaps. The cockpit layout is optimised for both team performance and sailing in single or double-handed mode. The comparatively slim performance boat is equipped with a lifting keel and can be transported on a trailer or in a container.

Arcona 385

The latest Arcona from Sweden also satisfies the increased interest in performance cruisers, boats that sail better and also want to be more comfortable than the rest. Like the modification of the Arcona 340 to the 345 (test in issue 22/2020), the 385 is a comprehensive optimisation of the Arcona 380, with Maurizio Cossutti reworking the design of the late in-house designer Stefan Qviberg. The 385 has timeless, streamlined lines, a moderately tapered stern, no chines, but has a permanently attached GRP bowsprit. At 6.85 tonnes, the boat is quite light, and in combination with the sail area of 88 square metres, it has a high sail carrying capacity of 4.9. Three draughts up to a sporty and effective 2.40 metres can be selected.

A Swedish dream: The Arcona 380 under full sail in the archipelago. The jibs are on the outside, there are no overlapping headsails, but the rig is correspondingly higher

Bavaria C38

The youngest and smallest boat in Bavaria's new shipyard programme combines a very large amount of space with sailing qualities that are easy to call up. The design by Maurizio Cossutti offers plenty of volume thanks to the large width, including in the stern, deep chines and a pronounced V-bow. Two or three cabins are available, which are very spacious. The galley is quite large in relation to the saloon. The basic price is low, but many extras are necessary for good equipment. Test: 1/2021.

Beneteau First 36

The long-awaited First 36 is fast, light, smooth and yet still suitable for touring. Market leader Beneteau is now adding a medium-sized performance cruiser to its sporty First programme. The design of the First 36 comes from Sam Manuard, who is known for his fast and successful offshore racers from the Mini 6.50 to the Imoca 60. The boat is built by Seascape in Slovenia. You can read the current exclusive test in YACHT 9/2022.

Gliding as normal. The First 36 does not need more than 15 knots of wind for this, but can also handle considerably more

BM 31 Classic

A real one-off, and not for sale: the boat built by screenwriter and hobby shipyard boss Jan von der Bank himself is a rare find for a boat show and the most unusual exhibit at the fair. The classic retro sports boat impresses with its quality craftsmanship, originality and attention to detail. YACHT readers are already familiar with the realisation of Martin Menzner's design: we have accompanied the project from the very beginning (issues 18/2017, 10/2020 and 4/2022).

Comfortina 43

Exclusive new addition to the semi-custom programme of the yacht builders in Schleswig. The concept: the shipyard provides the hull and the deck, and the customer decides what he wants inside and on top. Dieter Blank's design can be fitted with either a fixed or lifting keel and one or two rudder blades. Below deck, extension versions with up to three cabins and two bathrooms are possible.
