The new Anchor Easy app for sailors has been on the market since mid-February. The range of digital anchor watches is now quite large, but many applications are immature or have technical flaws. The new app is intended to provide a functioning overall package with special functions.
Behind the project is the sailing couple Dagmar and Marc Schröder, who have contributed their practical experience to the development. They relied on the expertise of a former Google engineer to implement the app.
Anchor Easy offers several useful functions. In addition to warnings in the event of anchor drift, the app also reports loss of signal or a low battery level on the mobile phone. The anchor point can be set manually, by bearing or via a map on the mobile phone. Technically, the app should also work reliably in background operation and has a special mode for shore lines that also monitors the course.
Remote monitoring of your own boat works via a "boat group": The crew can leave a terminal device in the boat and receive the error message directly on another device, but this requires an internet connection. In the Apple App Store a 30-day subscription is offered for 5.99 euros. Permanent full access regularly costs 29.99 euros, but is currently available at a special price of 14.99 euros for early supporters.
Anchor Easy is priced in the higher segment. After all, established apps on the market such as Anchor Alarm for a one-off fee of €19.99 and Anchor Pro for a one-off fee of €6.99 offer extended access to their full functions. A key promise from the developers of Anchor Easy is the optimised background activity, which is designed to ensure particularly reliable position monitoring even when the mobile device is in energy-saving mode. However, basic functions such as the monitoring of the Schwoi circuit or notification via end device even when you are not on board are not unique selling points.
