The French start-up Sadurr has developed a practical little helper in the form of the Masticbox. The special cover is designed to preserve opened cartridges of adhesive and sealant for several months. The problem is familiar to all owners: usually only a fraction of the compound is used, for example to seal a screw connection on deck, and the rest hardens in the cartridge in a short time. There are many tricks to delay this process somewhat. The Masticbox should now be able to do this reliably. After use, the cartridge is simply placed in the cylindrical sleeve. A container with hygroscopic granules is then placed on top. This container has a recess in the centre so that the spout can remain on the cartridge and be reused later. The lid with valve is then screwed on and the air is pumped out using a tiny hand pump. Finally, another cap is placed over the valve. The process should be completed in around 20 seconds. The dehumidifying granulate changes colour to indicate when it is too moist (only after several uses) and can then be made fit for further use in the microwave. A cartridge can also be used and re-preserved several times. The mastic box can be stacked with the square end pieces. Price: 39.90 euros. | sadurr.com
The heart thimble from Nodus is designed to help optimise the splice for the highest possible breaking loads. The wedge-shaped insert creates a relatively acute angle. Without it, the splice would be narrower and higher transverse forces would act on the fibres. This would greatly reduce the breaking load of the cordage at this point. With the insert, the ideal angle is reliably achieved. The material itself is also new. With the P-Tech Carbon Ring, Nodus has developed a mixture of carbon fibres, polymer and a lubricating additive, which is said to be particularly light, stable and low-friction. Available in three sizes from 6 to 18 millimetres. The price has not yet been set. | nodusfactory.com

There are a number of anchor alarm apps, but the Hooked Anchor app has a special function: It monitors and alerts even when the crew is ashore. No special hardware is required for this. Just a tablet with the same Apple ID. If the app is installed on both devices, the tablet can remain on board and the position of the yacht can be displayed on the other mobile device. An Internet connection is required for both devices. The app can obtain position data from the plotter's Wi-Fi if the tablet does not have GPS. | svspisea.com
With Swift Furl, Allen has developed a furling system for Weta trimarans that is also suitable for dinghies and beach cats. The furling line is endlessly sheared. The furling system measures 91 millimetres, weighs 197 grams and has a maximum working load of 430 kilograms. This includes the High Load Top Furler with the same working load and a weight of 41 grams. The Furler is now being distributed by wholesaler Lindemann via suppliers. The price has not yet been fixed. | lindemann-kg.de
