The B&G H5000 instrument display is fitted to thousands of sailing yachts. However, it has not been in production since early 2026. B&G does not offer a successor of the same size. According to A+T, the HFD5 is designed to fill precisely this gap and provide a straightforward replacement for the H5000.
According to A+T, the HFD5 instrument display uses the same mounting holes as the B&G display and connects to the on-board system via the same standard Micro-C connector. The required power and all on-board data are also transmitted via this connector. A+T promises an extremely straightforward installation: before the display is fitted, all that is required is to remove the old system and connect the data cable to the new screen. The new display is then screwed into the existing drill holes and, according to the manufacturer, is ready for use straight away.
According to the manufacturer, A+T’s new display is not only a fully-fledged replacement for the H5000, but also a modern alternative offering noticeable improvements. The software interface can be individually configured on the A+T system and populated with the desired instrument data. The display style can be freely selected: analogue dials, bar graphs, trend graphs or colour changes when specific thresholds are reached. All of this can be configured for every available measurement channel in the network.
To ensure the data remains legible even in bright sunlight, A+T has opted for a transflective display. According to the manufacturer, it reflects sunlight back thanks to a special reflective layer behind the panel: the stronger the sunlight, the greater the contrast of the display is said to become.
According to A+T Instruments, the first deliveries began in June 2026. The HFD5 currently costs 2,172 euros. Delivery to Germany costs around 140 euros. A+T has not quoted an official price in euros. The manufacturer is accepting orders at info@AandTinstruments.com or via the A+T Instruments product page on the contrary.
Skipper training By Rolf Dreyer, this book covers not only navigation and seamanship but also on-board electrical systems and the use of on-board instruments.
