In this way, areas not in the shade can continue to operate undisturbed without the usual use of diodes. According to the manufacturer, this significantly reduces energy loss during periods of shade. Sunbeamsystem also emphasises that the built-in electronics are more robust than conventional diodes.
The walkable panels are fitted with SunPower Maxeon cells mounted on a copper base. A carbon-reinforced sandwich core is designed to protect the cells from micro-cracks.
The junction box is just 1.2 millimetres thick, and the flat cables can be routed directly through the deck down into the interior. This helps to avoid trip hazards on deck.
The G8 model range is divided into a Standard and a Performance series. The price range for the standard G8 Tough series runs from 139 euros for the 21-watt model up to 499 euros for the 111-watt version. The more powerful Performance series starts at 239 euros (39 watts) and goes up to 1,049 euros (126 watts).
