The Danish manufacturer DCW (Danish Clean Water) from Sonderborg markets Blueway, a new type of disinfectant for drinking water. According to the manufacturer, it removes harmful bacteria, biofilm and unpleasant odours from tanks, pipes, taps and shower heads. The product is said to be suitable for cleaning the tank and the rest of the water system as well as for permanent disinfection.
We tried the product for a season. For basic cleaning, the tank is filled with water and a dose of Blueway, all tapping points are opened to ensure that Blueway reaches all parts of the water system, and emptied again after just thirty minutes. The tank does not need to be rinsed any further and can be used immediately. This quick process is an advantage over many conventional cleaners. The water then mixed with Bluway in the tank tastes fresh and clean; the taste, odour and appearance of the water were flawless even after long periods of standing. The product works with the in-house development Neuthox, which is produced without chemicals from water, salt and electricity. It consists of 99.95 per cent water and only 0.05 per cent active ingredient. According to the manufacturer, Blueway is a safe and effective disinfectant without irritants or harmful chemicals, with a long-lasting effect of up to 12 months and a wide range of applications from cleaning drinking water to surface disinfection.
The manufacturer Danish Clear Water recommends cleaning the tank and the rest of the water system in autumn and spring and adding Blueway every time the tank is refilled with drinking water. For a 100-litre tank, 100 millilitres is sufficient. The litre bottle costs 12.99 euros.
