Using compressed air against frozen pipes
Ice in the water pipes can cause devastating damage, but draining them completely is time-consuming. Compressed air and a car valve provide a remedy

The end of winter storage is slowly coming into sight. Nevertheless, severe frost can still occur in spring - and destroy pipes. This simple but effective construction can avert the danger: A do-it-yourself compressed air adapter ensures empty pipes and a peaceful night's sleep in severe frost. The pipe system can be drained easily and sustainably using the adapter and protects the yacht from frost damage.

The prerequisite is a connection option for Gardena on the on-board system. Production is simple: A Gardena tap connector is drilled to an internal diameter of 10.5 millimetres. A normal car valve is then inserted into the connection. In conjunction with a Gardena device adapter, which is screwed into the connection of the tap piece, this creates a precisely fitting compressed air adapter for on-board use. A 12-volt compressor can now be used to blow through the water pipes and drain them without leaving any residue.
