A boat from Kiel ran aground near the Keldsnor lighthouse and ran aground. The 49-year-old single-handed skipper was able to escape unharmed

As reported by Fyns Amts Avis, the crew of the Dutch Navy's training ship "Van Kinsbergen" discovered the wrecked 26-foot boat on the beach a hundred metres north of Keldsnor last weekend and launched a dinghy with two men to investigate the incident.

What they found was a 49-year-old single-handed sailor who wanted to sail from his home port of Kiel to Marstal. He was in good health, had enough provisions and could spend the night on his stranded boat, the man explained, explaining why he had not yet called for help. Regarding the course of the accident, he said that his engine had stopped and his attempt to set the headsail had failed. He then deployed an anchor, but this could not prevent the stranding.

The boat survived the stranding surprisingly well. However, the owner believes that salvaging it from the rocky shore without it leaking will be a difficult task.
