Here comes a real all-rounder: the Pointer 30 is designed to be equally suitable for touring with the family as well as a sporty platform for regatta sailors or as a daysailer for short sailing fun in between. Following the success of the Pointer 25 (YACHT 6/2015 test) and above all the Pointer 22 (YACHT 12/2018 test), the shipyard in Friesland is continuing to expand its young brand. With a hull length of 9.20 metres, the Pointer 30 is now the largest ship in the ambitious range of compact performance cruisers.
The design developed by Bosgraaf Yacht Design in Holland has moderate and rather slender hull lines, even with a not very high freeboard. The photos of the first test run show a boat with very attractive and sporty lines. Maximising volume does not appear to be the top priority in this design.
The cockpit is very spacious. Buyers must decide whether they want the boat with a side-folding steering column or with tiller steering. When closed, a large bathing platform closes off the deep cockpit at the rear and thus also ensures safety, for example for family sailors. The stern hatch is included in the scope of delivery. The conventional aluminium rig with two spreaders can be trimmed efficiently with a strong backstay. However, the type, quality and scope of the sail wardrobe are determined by the buyer, as the sails are not included in the basic price. The boat can be fitted with either a built-in diesel engine from Yanmar (15 or 20 hp) or an electric pod motor from Torqeedo.
Two separate single berths are installed in the aft section. Two more people sleep in the separable forward cabin, where there is also an enclosed toilet room. The sofa on the starboard side in the saloon can also be used as an additional berth if necessary. Two swivelling armchairs on the port side complete the comfort offering in the saloon. And: a small galley with ceramic hob and sink is located in the passageway to the foredeck.
The price tag for the Pointer 30 is €132,670 as the base price, including 19% VAT. A detailed YACHT test is planned for spring 2023.
